Sadaqah is voluntary. There is no threshold, no rate and no minimum — the amount is entirely yours.

Amount

Any amount, as often as you wish.

This is given to ward off calamitySadaqa li-daf' al-balā'. The published rulings note an objection to such amounts reaching a Sayyid, so TIA will not direct it there.

When is Sadaqah given?

At any time and in any amount. It is commonly given daily, before travel, on behalf of someone who has died, or in thanks after something good.

Unlike Khums and Zakat it carries no threshold and no fixed proportion, and it may be given to a Sayyid as freely as to anyone else.
