Put things where they belong
Justice, for Imam Ali asws, is not a slogan — it is putting every right in its rightful place and giving each person their due.
It means help reaching those who need it most, and resources handled with the same care whether anyone is watching or not.
A heart accustomed to mercy
Imam Ali asws counselled that those entrusted with others should habituate their hearts to mercy, affection and kindness — never treating people as a problem to be managed.
Compassion is the warmth in how service is given, not only the fact that it is given.
Carry a burden so others are eased
In Letter 53, Imam Ali asws urges particular care for the poor, the destitute, and orphans and the aged who have no means of livelihood — the very people easiest to overlook.
Khidmah is faith made practical: showing up, doing the work, and taking the weight so someone else can stand.
Every person, an equal in creation
Imam Ali asws reminded those in authority that the people before them are of two kinds — a brother in faith, or one like you in creation.
Dignity means help is offered without humiliation, and the person receiving it is honoured as fully as the person giving.
Seek what is true, then act on it
Imam Ali asws described a wise saying as the lost property of the believer — worth seeking wherever it is found, and worth nothing until it is lived.
